Temple of Leah Cebu: Philippine’s very own “Taj Mahal”

Temple of Leah

Temple of Leah is called the Taj Mahal of Cebu because just like the iconic Taj Mahal in India, it was built out of love from a husband to his wife.

When I moved to Cebu, this is one of the first sites that I visited in the city, and while reading the brass plaque on the podium of Leah I can’t help but be in awe of the story behind the temple.

The temple was built as a symbol of a man’s love for the love of his life. That man is none other than Mr. Teodorico Soriano Adarna and the lucky wife is Mrs. Leah Albino-Adarna.

I can’t fathom the fact that a man would go beyond his ways to prove his love for someone.

The Temple of Leah is inspired by Roman Architecture with two brass lions greeting by the entrance of the shrine to the nine-foot statue of Leah.

The temple is also home to Leah’s collection of antique books, vases, and different other artifacts.

From the Temple site, you don’t just enjoy the man-made structure, you also get to enjoy the scenic views of the city and its romantic ambiance.

  • The place is actually amazing and it looks like they are still continuing to build it. Magnificent views also. I was just wondering does it really make sense to build place like that? Even if you really really loved your wife?

  • This is definitely worth the visit, it’s better at night in my opinion.Lots of great photo opportunities and there’s nothing really like it I’ve seen in my travels.Be sure to check out the lower levels as well, they have some things worth seeing that most people never knew was there.

  • Magnificent. So relaxing and romantic. What a wonderful place for people of all ages. I just want to comment to the management, to please redesign the store which is for me, a bit offset to the design. It doesn't add up. Please design the store properly so it will fit to the Grand design of the temple

  • I loved this place. You can see the whole city. You even feel the love aura of the place. But still need more things to do about the temple of Leah like more views or interesting to see about the place. But all in all my experience was great. I'll be back again.

  • Great place for picture taking! Ready your cameras and umbrellas because it can get really hot during summer. The main attraction is the bronze statue of Leah in the middle.
